Kim Garcia-Meza

Founder, Director, and Lead teacher of Las Mananitas Spanish Immersion Preschool

Kim Garcia-Meza has a BA from Stanford University, a Bilingual Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from SFSU, a Masters in International and Multicultural Education, bilingual emphasis from USF, a year of field research on bilingual education in Argentina, a Preschool Site Supervisor Permit from the State of California, and ten years of experience as a SFUSD lower primary Spanish bilingual teacher in San Francisco’s Mission District. Before beginning Las Mañanitas, she taught weekly literacy activities to Spanish-speaking toddlers and their families in the Mission District with The Reading Tree – a San Francisco based nonprofit dedicated to promoting early literacy. She volunteers weekly at Flynn Elementary (where her three children attended the Spanish immersion program for their primary years) as a Reading Partners tutor and at San Francisco Friends School where her two youngest children are students in 4th and 7th grade.  Her oldest daughter is a frosh at Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep.   She and her husband Peter are bilingual in Spanish and English, and have raised their children to be bilingual in both languages as well.
